OCALA, FLORIDA OFFICER STRUCK BY DUI DRIVER
A Marion County deputy is in the hospital Friday, injured when he was hit by a speeding truck. The incident took place during a chase on SR-40 near Northwest 110th Avenue. Doctors stitched up a cut on Deputy Christopher Erickson's arm. He is expected to be okay. Erickson was helping stop two men suspected in a drive by shooting. The deputy was trying to put down stop sticks when the suspect's truck approached at a high rate of speed. The two men gave up a short time later and surrendered to officers after a tire went flat on the truck they were driving.
