MILWAUKEE COUNTY WISCONSIN DEPUTY INJURED DURING TRAFFIC STOP

A Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy's squad car was struck Sunday morning while he conducted a traffic stop in the Hale Interchange on I-94. The 40-year-old deputy stopped the squad car in the distress lane about 10 a.m., with the car's emergency lights on, when it was struck by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man who drove off, but turned himself in later.

The deputy injured his neck, back and arm. At least ten Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office squad cars have been hit by motorists so far this year.  Department officials are asking motorists to abide by the state's "Move Over Law," which requires motorists passing a squad car to move over a lane if possible, or slow down if a lane change isn't possible.
