MAN, 28, IS ARRESTED AFTER CAR HITS COLUMBIA MISSOURI OOFFICER
A Columbia police officer suffered minor injuries when he was hit by a car on Friday night July 14 in the parking lot of Moser's Discount Foods. The episode at 705 Business Loop 70 W. began after Officer Scott Decker approached the driver about shoplifting items inside the store. The man was loading groceries into his car at about 9 p.m. when Decker approached on foot and tried to talk with him. In an effort to escape the parking lot, the man climbed into his vehicle and started the engine. Decker tried to stop the man, but in the process the suspect backed his vehicle, striking the officer's leg.
