TX OFFICER STRUCK BY DIABETIC DRIVER
A San Antonio police officer was injured Wednesday when a diabetic driver, apparently fatigued by her medical condition, hit his parked squad car, according to an accident report. Officer Ezra Benjamin Bailey, 45, was stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 10 investigating an abandoned vehicle when the accident happened at 4:40 a.m. The 46-year-old driver told officers she saw the police cruiser and focused on its flashing emergency lights. The next thing she knew, she was headed straight for the car, the report said. Her car struck the left rear of the squad car, which sent her vehicle back into the traffic lanes. It then swerved and hit a concrete wall.
