MAN ALLEDEDLY TRIED TO RUN DOWN DEPUTY

A 34-year-old Cecil County, Md., man was arrested late Thursday after allegedly assaulting his mother, then nearly running down a sheriff's deputy before leading police on a 40-mile chase through three counties. Cecil County Sheriff's deputies charged ther man with two counts of first-degree assault on a sheriff's deputy, and one count of second-degree assault.
