  • New Jersey Crossing Guard Killed by Car is Fondly Remembered

    When Joseph Dotterman became a crossing guard in his retirement, the doting, caring man seemed to embody the job.He never let a family member out of the house during nasty weather without telling them to be safe in their travels, and on the job, he told even adults to put on a hat in cold weather. Dotterman, 73, died at Hackensack University Medical Center on Saturday, three days after he was hit by a van while he was on-duty, crossing a man at the intersection of Mehrhof Road at Washington Avenue in Little Ferry.

  • NJ DOT Employee Struck and Killed While Helping Motorist

    Both the striking motorist and the DOT employee were rushed to a nearby hospital. The motorist remains in serious condition. Joseph Kealey the DOT employee later died

    A Columbia man faces several charges, including felony driving under the influence, after a chain-reaction traffic accident early Sunday that killed a tow truck operator.

  • Massachusetts Highway Worker Killed

    State police say one person has died and at least one other person has been hospitalized after a car crash at a work site on Route 3 in Chelmsford. It happened in the northbound lanes just south of Exit 32 around 10:30 a.m. Two vehicles and a work crew were involved the accident.

  • Minn. Deputy Killed While Directing Traffic

    Reserve Deputy Sheriff Mike Wilken, 56, of Newport,Minnesota was on traffic duty for the event when a vehicle driven by a "common Joe Citizen" struck him at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday October 24, 2009 near the intersection of White Bear Avenue and Frost Avenue. Wilken suffered multiple critical injuries and was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he died early Sunday morning.
