    A Wichita tow truck driver has been killed and the Kansas Highway Patrol needs the public's help in tracking down the driver of a car that struck him.

  • South Africa: Firefighter Struck and Killed in Backing Accident

    A Midlands firefighter in South Africa died after being hit by a fire truck on Monday Ocetober 7, 2013. Alicia Govender, 31, had returned to the Pietermaritzburg fire station after putting out a veld fire with colleagues when tragedy struck. It has been alleged that Govender was standing behind the fire truck when she was hit.

  • Mississippi Officer Struck abd Killed on Interstate 55

    Jackson Mississippi Officer Bruce Jacobs was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 55 at approximately 0130 hours on Sunday July 21, 2013. Jacobs had just removed a barbeque grill that had fallen onto the highway and was attempting to place it in the trunk of his patrol car when he was struck from behind.   • Louisiana: Breaux Bridge Tow Truck Driver Dies in Hit-and-Run

    Authorities say a Louisiana tow truck operator has died and a Texas man charged with vehicular homicide following an early morning hit-and-run crash on Interstate 10 near Breaux Bridge. Louisiana State Police say the incident happened at 2:23 a.m. Sunday when 25-year-old Blaze Louviere of Breaux Bridge was standing on the shoulder of I-10.   • Phoenix Firefighter Dies After Being Pinned Between Two FD Vehicles

    A Phoenix firefighter has died after being pinned between two emergency vehicles while responding to a fire. According to officials, Bradley Harper, 23, got caught between an ambulance and a fire truck as the two were trying to pass each other on a narrow road.   • York County, Pennsylvania Fire Chief Killed by Drunk Driver While Directing Traffic at Crash

    The Loganville Fire Company lost their chief early Saturday morning when he was killed in the line of duty. Fire Chief Rodney Miller was at Exit 8, the Glen Rock exit of Interstate 83, directing traffic off of the interstate. This was to land a helicopter on the highway to transport someone injured in an earlier accident. Miller had his vehicle parked in the southbound lanes with its emergency lights on. Matthew Diehl, 32 of Shrewsbury, was driving a white Chevrolet Trail blazer when he moved into the right lane to go around Chief Miller’s vehicle. Diehl struck Miller and then kept going until he came to the backlog of vehicles on the highway. Miller was transported to York Hospital where he was pronounced dead.   • Texas Deputy Struck and Killed

    Deputies say one of their own is dead after being struck by a suspected drunk driver on Highway 82 while on duty on Saturday night. Chad Key died when a car hit him while he was directing traffic around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night at the intersection of Highway 82 and Bethany Road, east of Sherman, Sheriff's Office Lt. Rickey Wheeler said.

  • Texas Wrecker Driver Killed in Crash

    A wrecker driver died while working to tow a stalled vehicle. The accident happened about 11:20 p.m. Friday April 5, 20913 in the center lane of the Southwest Freeway near Fountain View. Investigators said the flatbed wrecker truck pulled up behind a woman and her male passenger as they sat in their stalled Toyota Corolla Authorities said secondary wrecker stopped behind them in order to set up a protective barricade for the two vehicles. The passenger got out of the car and stood on the side of the freeway. The driver was trying to climb out through the passenger door as the flatbed operator was getting in on the driver's side. That's when a white pick-up truck drove around the barricade and slammed into the back of the flatbed wrecker, causing it to crush the Corolla, police said. The flatbed operator was still sitting inside was pinned inside the vehicle, investigators said.

  • New Jersey State Forest Fire Member Struck and Killed

    A firefighter from Raritan Township was struck by a vehicle and killed near a state park in Clinton Township today. Jeffrey Scheurer, 35, was conducting a controlled burn along with other firefighters when he was struck on Route 629 about 11:30 a.m., near the Round Valley Reservoir, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office. Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony Kearns said heavy smoke from the burn may have played a part in the crash, as a shift in the wind led to reduced visibility.   • Mississippi Police Chief Struck and Killed

    Authorities say a police chief in east Mississippi has died after being struck by a car while directing traffic. Clarke County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Barry White says Enterprise Police Chief Randy Boykin died Tuesday while being flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Boykin had been chief for 12 years and also worked as a part-time deputy.
