NIOSH Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation Reports for "Motor Vehicle - Struck-by" Incidents

• New York: New York City Traffic Agent Struck and Killed

  Kalyanarat Ranasinghe an NYPD traffic enforcement agent was struck and killed by a truck at a Manhattan intersection on Saturday afternoon November 30, police and witnesses said. The unidentified male agent was hit by an industrial vacuum truck about 2:45 p.m. on East 44th Street, between Fifth and Madison avenues, witnesses said. • Maryland: Perryville Volunteer Fire Police Officer Struck While Directing Traffic Has Died

  David Barr Sr., a Perryville volunteer firefighter who was hit by a car while directing traffic last month, died Thursday morning November 7, 2013. He was 65. On October 25 Barr was working as a fire police captain, managing the traffic around an accident on Route 40 near the Maryland 222 intersection when he got hit, rolled up on the hood of the car and laid on the highway with severe head injuries.
