JASPER COUNTY, S.C. - A tow truck operator was hit and killed while helping a motorist on Wednesday, 12-27-2023 in Jasper County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), it happened at about 6:23 p.m. on Frontage Road about two miles north of Ridgeland.

The Jasper County Coroner confirmed the victim’s identity as 39-year-old Eric Albertson, of Ridgeland. A1 Towing told WTOC that Albertson was an employee and had responded to help a motorist.

SCHP said another vehicle hit Albertson and left the scene.
