TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A 27-year-old Oklahoma wrecker operator, Kyle Morgan McCullough, was struck and killed Tuesday on Interstate 40 by a commercial motor vehicle.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, McCullough was on an owner-requested tow and had loaded the disabled vehicle on his rollback.
He was on the driver's side when he was struck by a passing semi-tractor trailer.
Witnesses said the CMV driver, identified as Shengjie Li, stopped a quarter mile down the road but then drove away.
A Pottawatomie County Sheriff's deputy stopped Li shortly after and arrested him for "leaving the scene of an accident".
OHP is currently investigating and other charges may be pending.
Oklahoma Wrecker Owners Association invites towers to light up their trucks on Friday in honor of McCullough.
McCullough worked as an operator for the Sooner Wrecker Service in McLoud for two years.
