(OH)(7-21-2020) Tow Operator Struck & Killed on Ohio Turnpike
HENRIETTA TOWNSHIP - A Tow Operator was struck and killed on the Ohio Turnpike just before 11:30 p.m. July 21 near milepost 132 in the eastbound lanes in Henrietta Township, Lorain County.
The tow truck operator, Eric Ackerman, 42, from Interstate Towing in Norwalk was assisting a disabled vehicle. Both drivers were out of their vehicles when they were hit by a pickup truck. Both men died from their injuries.
Investigators say the tow truck operator was wearing a reflective vest at the time of the crash and his wrecker had its overhead emergency lights activated.
