Texas: Tow truck driver dies in I-35E crash in Stemmons Corridor
A tow truck driver died early Monday when he struck another vehicle and went flying through the guardrail on Interstate 35E in Dallas, authorities say.
Dominic Cook, 46, was headed south in the center lane of I-35E when he rear-ended a Nissan Altima near Empire Central Drive around 2:45 a.m., according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department.
The Tow Jam truck crashed through a guardrail, crossed the access road and struck a tree in the parking lot of a Taco Bell.
Cook was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial crash slammed the Nissan into the cement wall on the left shoulder. The driver, a 24-year-old woman, was treated at Parkland Memorial Hospital and arrested on an unrelated warrant.
The Dallas County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash.
