NORTH CAROLINA: A GRIM REMINDER FOR US AS A POLICE OFFICER IS STRUCK & KILLED ON I-95

Once again we are reminded of the extreme risk of operating on roadways, especially Interstate (and related high speed) highways. This morning a Lumberton (North Carolina) Police Officer was struck by a vehicle and killed in the Line of Duty long Interstate 95.

Officer Jason Quick was dispatched to a crash on the northbound lane of I-95 near exit 22 at about 0610 hours on December 15, 2018. While investigating, he was hit by a vehicle at 6:53 a.m., according to the department.

Another Lumberton Police Officer and members of the Lumberton Fire Department immediately began rendering aid to Quick. Quick was transported to Southeastern Regional Medical Center where he died. The North Carolina Highway Patrol and the investigator for the Robeson County District Attorney’s Office were contacted to investigate the crash scene.
