North Carolina: Firefighter Struck and Killed by Drunk Driver
A North Carolina Firefighter was struck and killed by a drunk driver while operating at a scene.It happened during the morning of October 9, 2016 in Burke County was killed after being struck by a vehicle very early this morning. Triple Community FD Firefighters were dispatched to a call for service for a tree blocking the eastbound and part of the westbound side of Highway 70 East.
One Firefighter responded to the scene with fire apparatus and another in his . The Firefighters were in the process of clearing debris from the roadway just after midnight when a vehicle traveling on Hwy 70 struck one of the Firefighters. 40-year-old Firefighter Jason Keith Hensley was upon impact.
An investigation into the crash is being conducted by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. No arrangements for Firefighter Hensley have been made at this time.
