Mississippi: Two Firefighter Struck and Killed by Hit-Run Driver
Horrible news out of Mississippi tonight as 2 Sumrall Firefighters (SE of Jackson) have been killed in the Line of Duty after a hit-and-run crash on Hwy 589 in Sumrall, Lamar County this evening. The Firefighters were working another incident when a vehicle hit the 2 Firefighters and then fled the scene. Another person injured in that crash was transported by EMS to Forrest General Hospital-no word on their condition yet. The driver of the vehicle has been apprehended by Lamar Co. Deputies. Police have charged a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed two firefighters and injured a third in Lamar County Wednesday evening.
Clinton Alvin Beasley, 80, and Loretta Ann Sykes, 53, who were firefighters with the Sumrall Volunteer Fire Department, died at the scene. A third firefighter was taken to Forrest General Hospital.
Brandon Chance Eaton, 31 was charged with hit-and-run and causing death, according to local television station WDAM.
