Wisconsin: Endeavor volunteer firefighter dies
A volunteer firefighter was severely injured Friday after responding to a crash on I-39. The firefighter was airlifted to a Portage hospital and then to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, where he later died.The state patrol identifies the firefighter as 56-year-old Lawrence Millar.The Marquette County Sheriff's Department says the initial crash was caused by a medical emergency.
The Endeavor Fire Department responded, and had a truck with all emergency lights flashing on the interstate. But sheriff's officials say a driver who was approaching the scene didn't notice the truck, and swerved to avoid it. That vehicle hit a firefighter who was standing next to the truck.
No one else was injured.
