• Massachusetts Police Officer Struck And Killed By Dump Truck

  A Westfield police officer was struck and killed by a dump truck on Thursday morning. Jose Torres was working a traffic detail on Pontoosic Road when he was struck around 7:30 a.m., according to CBS 3 in Springfield. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Torres was a 27-year veteran of the Westfield Police. • West Virginia Courtesy Patrol Officer Struck, Killed While Assisting Vehicle

  A Courtesy Patrol employee was struck by a vehicle and killed early Sunday morning after the driver fell asleep, police say.

• Texas Towing Driver Killed on Interstate 30

  The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Billy Wooten Jr. was hit by an 18-wheeler at the 83 mile marker of eastbound Interstate 30, near the intersection of FM 1565, at around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. At the time, Wooten was loading a vehicle for a DPS Trooper. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Sheila Linden.

• Montreal Firefighter Struck and Killed

  A 39-year-old city firefighter died on the job after his own pumper truck struck him during an emergency call. Thierry Godfrind was struck about 4:30 p.m. Friday after firefighters responded to a fire caused by a pot left on a stove. His team was unable to revive him at the scene and he was pronounced dead in hospital.
