West Virginia Sheriff's Deputy Killed in Car Accident
An on-duty Monongalia County, West Virginia Sheriff's Deputy was killed early Saturday morning in a car accident. Sergeant Michael Todd May, 41, was working a midnight shift on D.U.I. patrol, when his vehicle was struck by a driver under the influence on Interstate 79 just over the Pennsylvania line.
A press release from the Waynesburg Detachment of the Pennsylvania State Police stated that Jerod Alan Green, 35, of Morgantown was being investigated for a hit and run on Easton Hill Road. Granville Police located Green's vehicle traveling on Route 100 in Monongalia County.
Officers initiated a stop and deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department arrived to assist.
