Missouri trooper Struck by Motorist on I-44 Dies

News reports from St. Louis confirm the death of Corporal Dennis Englehard of the Missouri Highway Patrol near Eureka on Christmas morning. Corporal Englehard was on the scene for at least 40 minutes when a driver lost control on an icy I-44 striking the trooper. He died later at the hospital. The accident that took the troopers life was one several involving police officers and firefighters across the nation during the holiday season thus far. Responders are reminded to use extra caution during inclement weather and heavy holiday traffic. The CVVFA Emergency Responder Safety Institute extends its deepest condolences to the Englehard Family and the MO Highway Patrol.
