Weymouth, Massachusetts Officer Struck and Killed on Traffic Detail

(NECN: Brad Puffer, Weymouth, Mass.) - *Update 4:30pm: District Attorney William Keating says the officer who was struck, has died of his injuries. The driver has been cited.*

A Weymouth, Massachusetts police officer is being treated for serious injuries after being struck by a car while working a traffic detail.

The accident happened just before ten o'clock Monday morning at Route 18 and West Street. The officer was taken to South Shore Hospital.

A Mazda pickup truck apparently struck the officer, when it collided with another car. National Grid workers reportedly had to pull the truck off of the officer.

The driver of the car stopped after the accident. No charges were immediately filed.
