LEE COUNTY FLORIDA DEPUTY STRUCK AND KILLED BY CAR AT FATAL ACCIDENT

Deputy Margena Nunez was killed early Sunday morning by a pick-up truck when she was working another deadly accident in Lehigh Acres. Her cruiser was parked near the intersection of State Road 82 and 40th Street. Her car was blocking the road with her emergency flashers when the pick-up, driven by Agustin Lara-Nonez hit the cruiser and killing the deputy. Lara-Nonez has been charged with D.U.I. Manslaughter and D.U.I. Property Damage. He is being held with no bond. The Florida High Patrol is handling the investigation.

Deputy Nunez had been with the Sheriff's Office since 1999. She leaves behind a husband and 2 children. She is the second deputy to be killed this year.
