It surely is hard to believe that we have breezed through another summer season so quickly. Things have been busy for our brave little band of safety stalwarts. As you can tell from the volume of "struck-by" incidents that keep appearing on our site, the need for our programs continues to grow. Each day I become more convinced of the rightness of what we are seeking to accomplish.
Let me share a few tidbits of information with you. The work that was done by a great many fine, dedicated people came in Uniontown, Pennsylvania is on target. A number of us will be meeting at the National Fire Academy in November to begin putting the finishing touches on the video and photo scenarios which were created back in August.
This continues to be a critical task for us. Decisions will be made as to which parts of the video and photo collection will be used to show how you can improve your safety posture out there on the highway. When this task is fully completed and everything is edited, we will be archiving it on the Respondersafety.com site for your use.
Over the past couple of years, a growing number of folks from around North America have been asking for video and digital images which portray the best possible practices for working on the highways and byways of our countries. When this project is completed, it will be ready and waiting for you right here on Respondersafety.com.
Our friend Mike Chiaramonte has been laboring valiantly in the trenches of curriculum creation. A veteran educator, Mike has taken the best of a number of fine educational programs and blended them together into the Emergency Response Safety Institute (ERSI) model training curriculum for highway safety. We did not reinvent the wheel. Our good friends at VFIS who have an excellent course on this subject gave us a number of ideas as did our in house experts.
This has been no small undertaking. We all want to thank Ron Moore and Jack Sullivan for sharing their depth and range of programmatic material with the ERSI. Both men have been integral members of our operating team from the very beginning. Their commitment to highway safety is solid and their dedication to the delivery of quality training is second to none.
We are pleased by the activity that you or readers have generated in the field in making emergency responders safer. Our course is intended for our instructors so we can deliver a consistent message. Unlike our DVD's, the course will not be available for distribution. We do intend to expand our offerings as much as our meager budget and our volunteer instructors allow. Visit us often to learn when we will be in your area and let us know if we can come to your part of the country to conduct a class.
Respondersafety.com would like to extend an invitation for you to meet with us at the FDIC East conference in Atlantic City. The conference is being held at the Atlantic City, New Jersey Convention Center from October 25-30. You can obtain further information by visiting www.FDIC.com.
Jack Sullivan will be presenting a highway safety training program. Mike Chiaramonte, Steve Austin, and I will be staffing the Respondersafety.com booth out on the convention floor. Why not stop by and say hello.
