Maryland: Baltimore police officer dragged, hit by car twice
Baltimore Police say an officer was dragged by a car and hit by the vehicle twice during an incident in the northeast part of the city. The department said in a news release that Saturday afternoon, the officer was investigating a dispute. Investigators say the woman involved drove away, dragging the officer a short distance. Investigators say she hit the officer with her car, and while he was lying in the street, tried to run him over.
Officials say the officer was hit by the car again, and the officer then shot at the woman. She was not hit. After driving away, the woman returned and was arrested. Sixty-three-year-old Fredia Powell of Baltimore was charged with attempted murder and other offenses.
The officer was treated and released at a hospital.
