South Carolina: • Man dies after car forces him over concrete wall on I-385 during ice storm, coroner says
A man, standing on the side of Interstate 385, was forced over a concrete retaining wall and down an embankment Monday night. Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans said Clayborn Dallas Jester, 28, was standing at the site of an earlier collision when another vehicle forced him over the wall.
Parks said Jester died at the scene from multiple blunt force trauma. A 20-year-old Taylor man, who was with Jester, was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital with injuries.
A Greenville police officer was struck by a car while working the first crash in this area, Gilberto Franco with the Greenville Police Department said. The crash involved a 1993 Jeep, a legally parked Toyota, a Ford police cruiser and two pedestrians.
In the first crash, troopers said a 32-year-old Greenville woman driving the Jeep was not injured but her 37-year-old passenger was injured and hospitalized.
