Massachusetts: Two Springfield officers hit by drug suspects’ car
Two Springfield police officers were being treated at the hospital, Friday night, for injuries they suffered when they were struck by a fleeing drug suspect’s car.
Springfield Police Lt. Brian Keenan told 22News the officers were hit at 7:19 p.m. Friday when they moved in to arrest the two men in a supermarket parking lot at 633 Boston Road.
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News, “A Narcotics detective was making a drug arrest. Suspect backed up his vehicle and crushed (the) officer’s leg.”
The two suspects are in custody, and detectives are determining the charges that will be brought.
Lt. Keenan said he expected the injured officers would be released from the hospital after treatment.
