ILLINOIS SQUAD CAR HIT, OFFICER HOSPITALIZED
A Crystal Lake police car was rear-ended late Friday by a drunken driver, police said. A male police officer was taken to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington for evaluation, McHenry County sheriff’s Sgt. Carolyn Hubbard said. Hubbard would not release the officer’s name.
Theodore J. Borzecha, 21, of 9874 Fairfield Road, Huntley, was charged with driving under the influence in connection with the incident. The officer was stopped at a stop sign west on Crystal Lake Avenue at Oak Street when Borzecha, driving a pickup truck, swerved off the road onto the curb, then back onto the road, and into the rear of the squad car, Hubbard said. He was not injured.
