NY Suburban Overpass Renamed for Police Officer Killed in Struck-by Incident

An overpass spanning Long Island's Meadowbrook Parkway has been formally renamed to honor Nassau County's first female police officer. State officials unveiled a sign Thursday naming the Merrick Road overpass after Kathleen Reilly. The Baldwin native made history when she joined the police department in February 1966. She was later promoted to detective. Reilly was only 28 years old when she died on Christmas 1967.
