  • Chili's Restaurants Honoring California Highway Patrol Officer Joe Sanders

    On December 15, 2008, CHP Officer Joe Sanders was struck and killed by a motorist while working on the 60 freeway. Officer Sanders leaves behind three children and a wife who is expecting another child. Many companies and private citizens have expressed a desire to help the Sanders family. The CHP was recently notified of a corporation who wished to implement a very generous donation to the family of Officer Sanders.

  • What Goes Around Comes Around

    This came in from Chief Billy Goldfeder. "Remember way back in November of 2006 when a N.J. Deputy Fire Chief was arrested on I-80 and held in handcuffs for two hours? Those irrational actions followed an argument with the New Jersey State Police trooper after the Chief refused to move the blocking/protecting apparatus on Route 80. D/C Robert Jenkins of the Rockaway Township FD was charged with disobeying a state trooper and disorderly conduct after arguing with that trooper at the scene of the crash. A second firefighter who drove the apparatus also was ticketed following the conflict. Thoughtless, reckless criminals!...in the eyes of that trooper." Read on...

  • 4 NJ Troopers Injured in Major I-80 Accident

    A chain-reaction accident involving six vehicles on an icy stretch of Route 80 eastbound near Exit 12 in Hope Township sent 11 people, including four State Troopers, to the hospital with injuries and shut the highway for several hours.

  • Baltimore County County Engine #2 Struck for 4th Time

    At approximately 22:15 on the evening of Wednesday, December 10 Baltimore County Fire Department Engine 2 (Pikesville) responded to a reported automobile accident with auto fire on the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) by the Northwest Expressway (I-795) exit. After blocking the shoulder and fast lane, part of the crew from Engine 2 checked occupants of the vehicles involved for injuries while other crew were placing flares when a young driver who failed to see the engine drove straight into the side of it. Fortunately, there were no injuries due to this secondary incident, though the driver just narrowly missed several of Engine 2's crew.   • NY Suburban Overpass Renamed for Police Officer Killed in Struck-by Incident

    An overpass spanning Long Island's Meadowbrook Parkway has been formally renamed to honor Nassau County's first female police officer. State officials unveiled a sign Thursday naming the Merrick Road overpass after Kathleen Reilly. The Baldwin native made history when she joined the police department in February 1966. She was later promoted to detective. Reilly was only 28 years old when she died on Christmas 1967.
