A California Highway Patrol officer was last reported in intensive care at UC Davis Medical Center after he was struck on Thursday by a hit-and-run driver on westbound Interstate 80 just east of Madison Avenue. CHP officers credited other motorists and an off-duty Sacramento firefighter-paramedic with coming to the officer’s aid.

Minnesota: Police officer injured after being hit by SUV while on the scene of a crash
A Plymouth police sergeant injured her ankle when she was hit by an oncoming SUV while investigating a hit-and-run crash Tuesday night. The State Patrol’s report says 43-year-old Angela Haseman was “out on a crash scene” on Kilmer Lane in Plymouth around 10:45 p.m. when she was struck by a Hyundai Santa Fe that was traveling southbound on the road.

Michigan: Dash cam video shows 2 police officers struck by car
Two police officers were taking information from motorists involved in side-by-side collisions on an icy section of Howard Street early Sunday morning, when another car slammed into the mess. The officers were struck by vehicles involved in that third crash, caused by a man authorities suspect was drunk.

Michigan: Westbound I-196 closed due to multiple crashes in Grand Rapids
Police have closed westbound I-196 at College Avenue Monday night while crews respond to crashes in the area. The freeway was closed about 9 p.m. after seven cars crashed on the icy freeway in three separate incidents, police said.

Ohio: Fleeing driver nearly hits Dayton officer
A police officer who jumped out of the way of a fleeing driver Saturday night narrowly missed being hit by the car. Two officers inside a cruiser on patrol at 8:30 p.m. spotted a Chevrolet Impala fail to signal a turn 100 feet ahead before turning from Blueberry Avenue onto England Avenue. The officers activated the overhead lights to initiate a traffic stop when the driver turned onto Kings Highway at a dead-end, according to a Dayton police report. The officers got out of the cruiser after the driver raised his hands in the air. Then the driver began to accelerate at a high rate of speed towards one of the officers as both officers ordered him to stop. According to the officer’s report, “the driver continued on his path towards me, requiring me to take immediate evasive action to avoid being struck by his vehicle.” The officer reported that even after he got out of the way, “the vehicle was still within a foot of striking me.” The car was described as black Chevrolet Impala with a temporary Ohio license tag.

Michigan: Two Kalamazoo officers injured after being hit by drunk driver
Two Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were injured after being hit by a vehicle Sunday morning. Officers were responding to a car accident around 3 a.m. in the 600 block of South Howard Street.
